Throughout our bodies we have a system of connected thin tubes that is called the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system carries colourless liquid called lymph through the pipes and into lymph glands (they look a bit like broad beans). The lymph glands (also called lymph nodes) help connect the pipes in the lymphatic system throughout the body. (It looks a bit like a map - lots of cities that are joined together by roads). The lymphatic system has three jobs. These are to fight infections, to carry some of our food into cells, and to make sure that dead blood is replaced with new blood cells. Cancer tumours in the lymphatic system are usually found in the lymph glands. Lymphomas are cells in the lymph glands that keep on dividing to create a tumour.
