Warning that sunbeds cause cancer
A group of scientists has said using sunbeds is much more dangerous than they thought and can cause cancer. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) said people younger than 30 who use sunbeds are more likely to get cancer than those who don't. After seeing the study a cancer charity has asked the government to ban anyone younger than 18 from using sunbeds.
The Sunbed Association says there is "no proven link" that using sunbeds responsibly can cause cancer.
The IARC want sunbeds that emit ultraviolet light to be moved to the "highest cancer risk category".
The report also says that sunbeds are "carcinogenic to humans". Anything that is carcinogenic causes cancer or makes it worse. More than 2,600 people die from skin cancer each year in the UK, according to Cancer Research UK.
As well as a ban on under-18s using the sunbeds the charity also wants to close automatic tanning salons that don't have people working in them.
