I basically want anyone reading this to know, cliché as it sounds - you're not alone.

On the 10th of July 2007 my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer at the tender age of 37. I was 13 and my little sister was 9. She had a radical mastectomy (breast and lymph node removal), intense radiotherapy, chemotherapy and still to this day she is undergoing hormone therapy.

Throughout this ordeal the family has been torn apart and mum and dad are no longer together. Although what I had been through seems like the end of the world I knew that when I came onto Riprap I had help and support from other children going through the same, if not worse. I honestly cannot put into words how much I love this service, just being able to give and receive advice directly related to your circumstances helps so much. I've never been one for sharing my personal business with others, although I make sure my mum knows everything and she makes sure I have no shame in admitting I need help and support from websites such as this.

I basically want anyone reading this to know, cliché as it sounds - you're not alone.
