Leanne - 12 years old

The next day we had a call from the surgeon saying that mums operation was a success. We were all so pleased.

I was shaking with frightness. What could be so important that my mum and my grandparents had to tell my bother and I? "You know your mum has been very sick. She has been to the doctors and they have told us that your mum has got lung cancer", said my granddad shakily. I was shocked sitting there shaking with fear. I couldn't believe what I had heard. My brother and I started crying so hard. My nana said "everything is going to be ok, because she will have radiotherapy and chemotherapy and then will come the big operation." We all started crying and then my brother and I went over and hugged my mum. Months passed by and it was time for the operation. We were all worried about losing her, but we were all keeping strong. The next day we had a call from the surgeon saying that mums operation was a success. We were all so pleased. We went and visited her the next day. I was so happy she was ok. I am so thankful that my mum is still alive today.
