Living With Cancer |

Religion and spirituality
When serious things happen in life,
like having a parent with cancer, we
often find that we think of the
BIGGER questions, like Why us? Why me? Is there God/gods? If so, what is God, what are the gods doing? What is the meaning of life? What happens if s/he dies? Is there an afterlife?
For some people with religious beliefs, death strengthens their faith and they believe that they have been helped in a supernatural way through a very difficult time. For other people though, death can make them question, weaken or destroy what they used to believe. If you would like to talk to someone about these BIGGER questions, make sure that it is someone you feel safe and comfortable with. This could be a friend, a family member, a trusted adult or a religious leader, such as a vicar, Rabbi or Imam. If you choose to talk to someone that you do not know like a religious leader, make sure that someone knows where you are going and who you will be with.
